Bob sent in this great shot of his wife and him in Hawaii sporting their yellow gold Rolex watches. Bob's wife is wearing a Rose Gold Midsize 31mm Datejust with a matching Rose Gold Jubilee dial and diamonds.
Bob is wearing a yellow gold Day-Date with an ammonite dial and diamonds. Their watches were their 25th anniversary presents to each other, and they are in Hawaii in this picture.

In the photo below we see Gerald Ford sporting his yellow-gold Rolex President wrist-watch also known as the Rolex Day-Date. Rolex always offers a Rolex Day-Date to every President Of The United States, and they did with Gerald Ford, but he refused to accept it for some reason!?!
According to retired Rolex U.S.A., executive, T. Walker Lloyd, after Gerald Ford completed his presidency, he contacted Rolex and said he wished to get his Rolex President. Supposedly Rolex said no, so President Ford went and purchased his from an AD.

This fascinating Rolex advertisement was published in a magazine in January of 1973, which was exactly 40 years ago. It is amazing how much Rolex advertising has changed over the last half century.

Here is a higher-resolution photo of the executive offices at Rolex Headquarters in Geneva in 1973. It is clear, that at least back in 1973, Rolex was very proud and interested in their history. What I want to know, is where are all those photos today? I want to see them and learn more about the amazing history of Rolex.

Steve P. took this superb photo of his rare and unusual Rolex Day-Date with a red lacquered Stella Dial and Bark Finished Bezel and Presidential bracelet. Stella dials are dials that have rich popping colors and are sought after by vintage Rolex collectors. This watch has a Florentine-finish bezel and bracelet which looks a little like a "bark" finish. This unusual bezel and bracelet finish is sometimes referred to as a "Moiré" finish, as well.

The Dalai Lama is considered to be the spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhism, and he is renowned for his wisdom diplomacy, kindness, smile and peaceful nature. It is difficult to discover what kind or watch he wears, because he always wears his watches, rotated 180 degrees around his wrist. When a watch is word backwards on the wrist, it serves to camouflage the watch, which makes it difficult to observe.
The Dalai Lama also typically goes out of his way to make certain his watches never appear to be fancy or ostentatious. His holiness does so, but typically putting them on inexpensive stretchable Speidel watch bands. In this recent photo, we see the Dalai Lama with Prince Charles, and the Dalai Lama is wearing a yellow gold Rolex Day-Date with a blue lapis dial.
The photo below shows the same Lapis Blue dial the Dalai Lama is wearing in the photo above. This beautiful dial combination is very rare.
In this next photo, taken more than 5 years ago, we see the Dalai Lama wearing a two tone Rolex Datejust on a jubilee bracelet.
