Colin Chapman was born in 1928 and passed away in 1982. Colin was a highly influential British designer, inventor and automotive industry maverick.
Chapman founded the Lotus Car Company in 1952 and was a revolutionary designer in the world of Formula One innovation. Among many of his innovative achievements was using struts as a rear suspension device. As we see in the photo below, Colin is pictured sporting his trademark yellow gold Rolex Day-Date which kept the time of his life.

Red Rubber B for the Rolex DEEPSEA

Rubber B is an extremely innovative company that introduced the very first rubber strap made just for Rolex watches that were designed to perfectly fill in the space between the lugs on Rolex sports watches. One could argue this innovation was long overdue, but Rubber B brilliantly brought it to life.
Recently Rubber B introduced an AMAZING new rubber step made just for the Rolex DEEPSEA SEA-DWELLER, which is pictured below in red.
One of the great design innovations with the Rubber B made just for the DEEPSEA is that it is unusually wide compared to the standard Rolex Oyster bracelet. Even though the Rolex DEEPSEA seems like it is twice as large as the standard Rolex SEA-DWELLER, Rolex did not scale the Oyster Bracelet up, and some argue it looks a little strange to have such an enormous watch with a skinny, narrow bracelet.
Rubber B listened carefully to customers who said they thought the standard DEEPSEA Oyster bracelet was too skinny, and Rubber B designed the all-new DEEPSEA strap with wings that run out to the edges of the lugs, and even though the strap is tapered it tapers down to 23mm, which is really fat. All this extra width gives the watch a much more macho, tool-watch look.
Rubber B also decided to go with a beefed up buckle, to make it much easier and faster to swap out multiple Rubber B straps.
As you can see in the images above and below, the Rubber B fits perfectly into the lug space, and there is a metal shank inside the end of the strap where it fits in-between the lugs, to keep it perfectly stationary.
Essentailly the Rubber B for the Rolex DEEPSEA gives it a completely different look, which is awesome. In my mind, it gives the DEEPSEA an even more aquatic, retro, surfer vibe. It is incredible how clean and simple the lines are on the all-new Rubber B for the Rolex DEEPSEA.
Since the Rubber B or the DEEPSEA uses a simple buckle, it is extremely sturdy and can't fail. The strap is made in Switzerland from the finest vulcanized rubber.
The Rubber B for the Rolex DEEPSEA is available in Red, Black and Shark Silver. I believe they plan to offer it is Safety Orange in the future.
Rubber B also announced they are coming out with a Rubber B strap made just for the all-new "Orange Hand" Rolex Explorer II this Fall. As I understand it, they will offer it in Safety Orange, and Black. I really hope it has the simple buckle system, and I REALLY hope it shares the amazing design language from the DEEPSEA model. Specifically, I hope it has the wings, and the wide buckle.
I think this winged design language gives Rolex watches and even sportier vibe, that would be very appealing to the Panerai crown, as well as tool-watch fans. Rubber B is also coming out with an all-new strap for the Ceramic Supercase Submariner, and once again, I pray Rubber B has the wisdom to make it look exactly like their DEEPSEA version.

Stephanie Seymour has had a very long career as a super-model. Stephanie began her ultra-successful modeling career when she was 14 years old, back in 1983. In the late 1980s and early 1990s she became a very successful Sports Illustrated swimsuit model. In some ways her career path reminds me of Brooke Shields career–in the sense we have witnessed her grow from a young woman to a mature woman in front of our eyes.
Stephanie Seymour was also a primary lingerie and hosiery model for Victoria Secret and was probably the most memorable early Victoria Secret model. She posed twice for Playboy, once in 1991 and again in 1993. In this next image from last year, she looks like a 1980s Nagel painting to me.
Stephanie Seymour has also been pursuing a career as an actress and has appeared on Law & Order. If Stephanie look familiar to you, it is because she has appeared on more than 300 Magazine covers in her incredible career.
It is amazing how Stephanie has improved with age–kind of like many Rolex watches I can think of =)

An American James Bond?
Sean Connery grew tired of playing James Bond and in 1968 decided to move on with his acting career. Albert Broccoli, the producer of James Bond approached Burt Reynolds and offered him the role. Burt Reynolds claimed he rejected the role saying "An American can't play James Bond. It just can't be done!!!"

It sure is interesting to wonder what would have happened if Burt Reynolds had accepted the role? Kind of like, wondering what Raiders Of The Lost Ark what have been like if Tom Selleck played Indiana Jones instead of Harrison Ford!?!
It is also interesting to see how remarkably similar Sean Connery and Burt Reynolds look when they got older. By the way, both Sean Connery and Burt Reynolds are wearing toupees in this photo.
The Search for a new James Bond Continued
Sean Connery had played James Bond for five straight movies and decided it was time to move on in his career. EON productions had to find a replacement in 1968 and narrowed down the field to these five British actors. Of course George Lazenby was chosen. George Lazenby is located on the bottom right hand side of the photo below.

Here is a really cool French version of the movie poster for On Her Majesty's Secret Service. Before becoming James Bond, George Lazenby was a superb skier and overall athlete. In the poster image below, George Lazenby as James Bond is shown wearing his Rolex Pre-Datyona Chronograph.
On a side note, having grown up in San Francisco, I learned to ski at Squaw Valley, which is located near Lake Tahoe in California. I remember back in the early 1980s, when I was 16 years-old noticing, after a day of great skiing, how many dudes (including myself) were wearing Rolex Submariner watches. (I remember when I was 16 thinking there was something so James Bondish about the Rolex Submariner, even though at the time I was not aware that any James Bond had ever worn one.)
There was something just so cool about wearing a Rolex and Skiing. It had to do with how sturdy and waterproof the Rolex watch was. If you ski, you probably know what I am talking about. Thus it is ironically cool that George Lazenby is pictured above wearing his Rolex Pre-Daytona in his ski outfit. Very Cool if you ask me!!!

George Lazenby only played James Bond once. Believe it or not, he was offered a 7 movie contract to play James Bond and he turned it down!?!?!
In On Her Majesty's Secret Service, Lazenby wore two different Rolex Watches. He wore a Rolex Submariner as seen in the first four pictures below and in the last next two images that follow he is wearing a Pre-Datyona Rolex Chronograph.
Apparently Lazenby purchased the Rolex Submariner he wears in the movie to wear for his audition for the role of James Bond.
